I’ve had one of those weeks where I have fully immersed myself into being a happy hermit. After landing back in Boston, I have decided to wrap myself up in our apartment and hide myself under my work, only leaving for Lottie expeditions. It has been most enjoyable. It got to today, and with social things planned for this evening, I decided that I needed to remember how to interact with other humans again, even if it was just for the simple transaction of naughty yummy treat to hermit. After being back in London and smelling the freshly baked pretzels in Westfield, I have been craving sugary cinnamon coated dough. So with the nearest location of the first Google ranked search result of 'Pretzel Boston' in my hand, I poodled off down to South Station.
Naughty yummy treat: Cinnamon Sugar Pretzel.
Portion size: Decent.
Moistness: Could have been even just a smidgen less dry.
Notes: *Sigh*. Perhaps my expectations of a soft, fresh pretzel were too high as mine is neither particularly soft, nor obviously fresh. The dough feels like it was baked last night, and certainly does not have that glorious soft feeling that other super fresh pretzels have. It just feels a bit tough for it to pass as just baked. However, there is a lot of yummy cinnamon and sugar coated on top, which has allowed me to consume the whole thing up. Thinking back, the lady who served me did offer cheese sauce to eat with it, which at the time I thought was a bit odd, but perhaps it was missing it’s key counterpart? Anyway, I shan’t be going back.
I have done a little more research on ze Google and have found that we actually have “phenomenal” pretzels just down the road from us at a place called Harpoon Brewery
. I have an inkling that they are savoury, but the consistent rave reviews has got me excited to try one. Beer sorted for the chap and pooch (I jest), and carbs for me. Hurrah!
