My weekly cravings have led me straight back to Flour Bakery
. During my many naughty yummy treat daydreams, Flour Bakery’s display of wonder is one image I cannot get out of my head. It is no exaggeration to say that I have been counting down the minutes until cheat day arrived this week, all I seem to think about is Flour Bakery and how wonderful it has been to me.
Flour Bakery seems to be famed for its Sticky Buns. I’m yet to try one as my eyes always are distracted by other treats when I pop in, but today when I saw that they had made a bread and butter pudding made of these Sticky Buns, I was in sold. A good Bread and Butter Pudding is just incredible – bread and butter is one of my favourite things in life, and having a sugary pudding version of it too just makes life that much sweeter. This is my second American bread and butter pudding purchase since being in Boston. I had the joy of having my first at Legal Test Kitchen
where I was offered their “seasonal” variety, where that day’s flavours were a marshmallows and Nutella beast (I presume the summer months in Boston are famed for their production of these local delicacies). It was magnificent; it was the kind of pudding my inner child went crazy for, and the memory of it sits proudly at the front of my food brain. So with Flour Bakery’s creation sitting there pretty much winking at me, I was ready to delve into my second Bostonian take on our English classic.
Naughty yummy treat: Sticky Bun Bread Pudding.
Portion size: Humongous.
Sickliness: Had to start pacing myself towards the end, but entirely enjoyable.
Moistness: Maximum moistness.
Notes: Incredible. Just incredible. This Sticky Bun Bread Pudding is truly delicious. It’s possibly the most moist dessert I have ever eaten that is so close to becoming soggy, but somehow miraculously isn’t. It’s gooey and sweet with yummy dark caramel on top, and the toasted pecans helped give some solid texture to crunch on. The size of it is really very impressive, even bringing it back to the apartment it felt weighty, and the stodginess of it did not disappoint. It is one of those treats that it completely worth blowing out on, I would happily eat healthy everyday if I knew I had a slice of this waiting for me at the end of the week. Nom.
