I know it doesn’t make for particularly thrilling content, but the last couple of weeks have been so incredibly busy that even I’m forgetting all the exciting things that are currently going on. To not jinx anything, I’ll keep schtum, but I’ll update all (and probs lets my Ma know) very soon.
So, getting back to what is important – for #fatfriday today I thought I’d be mighty adventurous and try something new. I’ve heard of and seen whoopie pies, but never particularly gravitated towards them. It’s the filling that put me off, I could never figure out what it was exactly and have been terrified that it's a swirl of cream (bleurgh). Whole Foods had run out cinnamon filled goodies, so I decided to be *extremely* brave and try out these mystical beasts.
Naughty yummy treat: Chocolate Whoopie Pie.
Price: $5.99 for a pack of 4.
Portion size: Chunky.
Sickliness: They’re pretty intense.
Moistness: Lots of it.
Notes: Firstly, these are pretty humungous. One is definitely enough, and the next should be consumed once your sky high sugar levels have dropped down back to your “normal” level. Secondly, they are really quite delicious, especially with a cup of tea. The best way I can describe it is like a chocolate cake sandwich with a light, marshmallowy frosting inside. The chocolate cake is dense and stodgy, and actually a little bit sticky – a bit like an undercooked flat cake that is actually tasty. The icing is super sweet and it took me a while to figure out it had some kind of marshmallow flavour chilling out in there. It doesn’t taste like a standard buttercream, it is creamier and has a more subtle sugary taste. It actually reminds me of a bigger, softer and cakier version of an Oreo. I totally recommend. Yummy!
